Tron Legacy – a geek’s wet dream

Just before Christmas I got to an opportunity to go to the IMAX and see Disney’s latest reincarnation of the 80’s classic, Tron Legacy. In glorious 3D it was an epic movie and one that, even two months on, is still very much in my thoughts. It is not that the story or acting is anything special, but the visual effects and Daft Punk sound track were superb, making it one of the best cinematic experiences of 2010.

For most people who use a computer, the inner workings are quite a mystery. There almost seems to be some form of artificial intelligence, especially when the PC in question misbehaves, requiring very illogical responses such as a reboot to solve a problem. For most then, the thought that there is something more, is one which Tron nicely covers in the same way the Matrix did a few years before.

So if you have an evening spare, and it is still showing in your area, I would suggest going along to see it. Maybe then you can also utterly annoy your office every afternoon by playing the soundtrack at full volume…
